Root Canals

If you have a toothache that has been bothering you, even only for a little while, you may have an infected tooth. There are other causes for a toothache, but if your tooth is infected, you probably need to have a root canal. We invite new and existing patients in the Arlington and Grand Prairie area to call for appointments right away.

Root canals typically have the reputation of being horribly painful, but in reality there are two issues that usually are the more painful parts of having a toothache — the toothache itself and the recovery after the root canals.

However, when you have root canals at our Arlington office to treat your toothache, we use laser dentistry, so the pain of the procedure as well as your recovery period afterward can be less painful and shorter!

The following symptoms should not be ignored:
  • If you have a toothache when you chew or your toothache worsens, you may need a root canal.
  • If you get a toothache when your tooth is exposed to hot or cold, even after the hot or cold is removed, you may need a root canal.
  • If your tooth is becoming discolored, you may need a root canal.
  • Do your gums feel tender or are they swollen? If so, you may need a root canal.
  • Root canals are an appropriate dental treatment in many cases, and the process is really rather simple. Basically, it removes the infected root pulp that resides in your tooth. When you were growing up, tooth pulp was necessary to help your teeth grow in strong and healthy. But once your adult tooth is grown in and established, tooth pulp is no longer necessary. It is this tooth pulp that gets infected and needs to be removed. This doesn’t necessarily mean that every single one of your teeth is a root canal waiting to happen. With proper dental care, you can prevent the need for these procedures.

Root canals are not the bane of your dental experience as they once were. If you have a toothache, we do not want you to suffer in pain. Call today and we will be happy to discuss all of your treatment options.
